Artio Global Investors Inc
A New York-based investment manager, Artio Global Investors ran mutual funds, commingled funds, and separate accounts in equities and fixed income for institutions and individuals. It began life as the U.S. arm of the Swiss banking group Julius Baer, then rebranded in 2008 and went public in 2009 before being bought by Aberdeen Asset Management in 2013. Its name comes from Artio, a Celtic bear goddess whose ancient statuette was found in Switzerland—fitting for a firm born of Swiss roots.
