Silicon Image Inc
A fabless semiconductor company that designed the chips and standards behind high-definition video connections, Silicon Image helped create HDMI, DVI, MHL, and WirelessHD — the technologies that let TVs, phones, and computers talk to each other. Founded in 1995 by Silicon Valley engineers David Lee and Brian Underwood, its name pairs "Silicon" (the material in its chips) with "Image" (its focus on digital video). The company was acquired by Lattice Semiconductor in 2015.
