Silver Bay Realty Trust Corp

A real estate investment trust that bought, fixed up, rented out, and managed single-family homes across the U.S. Sun Belt, turning scattered suburban houses into a rental business. It was born in 2012, spun off from the mortgage firm Two Harbors Investment Corp. along with a portfolio from Provident Real Estate Advisors, riding the wave of foreclosed homes after the 2008 housing crash. In 2017 it was bought by Tricon Capital Group (now Tricon Residential), which folded its homes into one of the country's largest single-family rental portfolios.
