A maker of the workplace messaging app Slack, which lets teams chat, share files, and run calls in organized "channels" instead of email threads, with thousands of integrations from tools like Zoom and Google Drive. It began as a tool the founders built for themselves while making a doomed online game called Glitch, and when that game shut down in 2012 they turned their internal chat software into Slack. The name is an acronym for "Searchable Log of All Conversation and Knowledge," a fitting nod to its searchable history.
