Spectra Energy Corp
A North American natural gas infrastructure company that moved gas along pipelines like Texas Eastern, which stretches from the Gulf of Mexico to the New York area, serving utilities and homes across the US and Canada. Born in 2007 as a spin-off of Duke Energy's gas businesses, it took its name from "spectrum," the plural of spectrum, to reflect its many services — and initially went by the placeholder "Gas SpinCo." In 2017 it merged with Canadian pipeline giant Enbridge, becoming part of one of the largest energy infrastructure firms on the continent.
