Sports Entertainment Acquisition Corp.
A special purpose acquisition company, or SPAC, formed in 2020 by two former pro-sports executives — Eric Grubman, a longtime NFL business leader, and John Collins, a former NHL chief operating officer — to find a sports-and-entertainment business to take public. In early 2022 it merged with Super Group, the parent of the online sports-betting brand Betway and the online casino Spin, and the combined company began trading on the New York Stock Exchange under the ticker SGHC. The founders' day jobs had them running premium hospitality for major leagues, so the deal brought a betting giant to Wall Street through a team that knew the sports world from the inside.
