A Canadian online gaming company behind PokerStars, one of the world's largest online poker sites, plus casino, sports betting and other games played by people worldwide. It began in 2001 when Israeli-Canadian father and son Isai and Mark Scheinberg founded PokerStars, which exploded in popularity after an amateur who qualified through an online tournament won the 2003 World Series of Poker. The company was originally called Amaya, and in 2017 it renamed itself The Stars Group after buying PokerStars' parent a few years earlier.
