Stitch Fix, Inc.
An online personal styling service that pairs data science with human stylists to send shoppers a "Fix"—a box of five clothing, shoe, or accessory picks chosen from a style profile. Katrina Lake started the company in 2011 while an MBA student at Harvard, launching it in her Cambridge apartment and gathering preferences with SurveyMonkey before moving to San Francisco. The name began as "Rack Habit" and was changed to Stitch Fix, where "fix" doubles as both a solution and the name of the signature curated box.
