A real estate investment trust, or REIT, that buys the buildings of middle-market businesses—from restaurants and gyms to manufacturers—and leases them back so owners can free up cash to grow. Founded in 2011 in Scottsdale, Arizona, its name is a playful acronym: STORE stands for Single Tenant Operational Real Estate. The company focuses on "profit center" properties where the tenant actually makes its money, an idea its founders brought from earlier ventures like Spirit Finance.
