A provider of life and health insurance, wealth management, and employee benefit plans, serving individuals, families, and businesses across Canada, the United States, and Asia. It was founded in Montreal in 1865 as The Sun Insurance Company of Montreal and today is headquartered in Toronto. When it expanded to Britain, a court fight with an older English Sun Life forced it to add "of Canada" to its name — the quirk behind the brand it still carries today.
