Swift Transportation Co
A giant of American trucking, Swift Transportation hauls full truckloads of freight across the United States, Mexico, and Canada, running everything from refrigerated and flatbed rigs to dedicated and intermodal routes. It began in 1966 when Jerry Moyes, his father, and his brother started hauling imported steel and cotton with a single truck in Phoenix. The company got its "Swift" name after buying the failing trucking arm of the Swift Meat Company in 1972, mainly to take over its valuable operating license.
