Syntel Inc.

A provider of information technology and business services, Syntel built software and ran outsourcing operations for clients across banking, healthcare, and other industries. It was founded in 1980 in Troy, Michigan, by husband-and-wife Bharat Desai and Neerja Sethi, who launched it from their apartment. Originally named Systems International, it was renamed Syntel, a blend of "synthesis" and "intellect," and was later acquired by the French IT firm Atos.
