Talisman Energy Inc.

A Calgary-based oil and gas explorer that searched for and produced crude oil, natural gas, and natural gas liquids across the globe, and even built the offshore Beatrice Wind Farm in the North Sea. It was born in 1992 when British Petroleum sold off its Canadian arm, and the new company's name came from an internal employee contest — a clerk suggested "Talisman" as a symbol of "fortune that favours the brave." The Spanish energy giant Repsol bought the company in 2015.
