A physician-led company that supplies doctors, nurses and other clinicians to hospitals, emergency rooms and clinics across the United States, so facilities always have staff on hand. Founded in 1979 in Knoxville, Tennessee, when Dr. Lynn Massingale, fresh out of his internship, started recruiting physicians to cover emergency departments. Legend has it the whole operation began in a closet in a hospital lobby — a humble start for a firm that grew into one of the largest clinical staffing organizations in the country.
