Tesaro Inc
An oncology-focused biopharmaceutical company that developed ZEJULA (niraparib), an oral pill for treating ovarian, fallopian tube, and peritoneal cancers, and was later absorbed by GlaxoSmithKline. Founded in 2010 in Waltham, Massachusetts, by two former MGI PHARMA executives, Tesaro built its business by rescuing under-resourced cancer drug candidates from bigger pharma companies. Its name echoes the Spanish word "tesoro," meaning "treasure."
