Texas Pacific Land Corporation
A land and resource management company that owns roughly 880,000 acres across the Permian Basin, making it one of the largest private landowners in Texas. Rather than drilling itself, it acts as the region's "ultimate landlord," leasing surface land to energy companies and collecting royalties, easement fees, and water-service revenue. The company traces its roots to 1888, when it was created as a trust to manage the surplus land grants of the bankrupt Texas and Pacific Railway, and it converted from a trust to a corporation in 2021.
