A maker of industrial heating and temperature-management systems, Thermon keeps pipes, tanks, and equipment in refineries, chemical plants, power stations, and rail systems from freezing or losing flow. Its heat-tracing cables and heaters serve energy, chemical, and transit customers around the world. Founded in 1954 by Richard Burdick, the company grew out of his invention of heat transfer cement. The name comes from the Greek word "thermos," meaning hot or warm.
