A major Brazilian mobile phone operator, TIM sells wireless plans, data, and connectivity to consumers and businesses across the country. It began as the Brazilian arm of Italy's Telecom Italia, which spun off its mobile division in 1995 under the name TIM—short for Telecom Italia Mobile. In 2002 it became the first mobile operator in Brazil to reach every state in the country, and it later became the first to cover all of Brazil's municipalities.
