Atlas Pipeline Partners LP
A provider of midstream gas services, it gathers natural gas through pipelines in basins across Oklahoma, Kansas, Texas, and the Southeast, then processes and treats it to remove impurities and pull out natural gas liquids. Founded in 1999 and long headquartered in Pittsburgh, the partnership was acquired by Targa Resources in 2014. Its "Atlas" name comes from founder Edward E. Cohen, a Princeton-trained historian of ancient Greece, who borrowed it from the Titan myth said to hold up the heavens.
