A provider of fitness and wellness programs for older adults and employees, Tivity Health is best known for SilverSneakers, the senior exercise program often offered free through Medicare Advantage plans. The brand traces to 1992, when Mary Swanson built a chair-based workout after her father had a heart attack and found no fitness classes suited to seniors. Renamed from Healthways in 2017, the company's "SilverSneakers" name pairs "silver" for its older members with "sneakers" for getting moving.
