Triquint Semiconductor Inc

A maker of radio-frequency chips and filters for mobile phones, GPS, Wi-Fi, and military and aerospace gear, TriQuint built components that let wireless devices send and receive signals. It was spun off from Tektronix in 1985 in Beaverton, Oregon, as an independent gallium-arsenide semiconductor business. Its name comes from a naming contest: "Tri" means three and "Quint" five, a nod to gallium and arsenic sitting in groups three and five of the periodic table. In 2015 it merged with RF Micro Devices to form Qorvo.
