Atwood Oceanics Inc

A Houston-based offshore drilling contractor that built and ran a fleet of drill ships and rigs for the oil and gas industry, doing deepwater work around the globe. Founder John Atwood started the company in 1968, and its name simply pairs his surname with "Oceanics" to reflect the offshore business. In 2017 the company was absorbed into Ensco (today part of Valaris), ending its run as an independent firm.
