Uil Holdings Corporation

A holding company for regulated electric and natural gas utilities in Connecticut, UIL Holdings Corporation delivered power through The United Illuminating Company and gas through Connecticut Natural Gas and Southern Connecticut Gas. It was formed in 2000 after Connecticut's electric deregulation, wrapping up a utility whose roots reach back to 1899, when the New Haven Electric Company merged with the Bridgeport Electric Light Company. In 2015 it merged with Iberdrola USA to create AVANGRID.
