A technology company that makes the software and payment systems letting vending machines, kiosks, and laundromats accept credit cards and mobile wallets, while operators watch sales and stock levels remotely. The business began as USA Technologies in 1992 and rebranded as Cantaloupe in 2021 after buying cloud-vending software firm Cantaloupe Systems. The name traces to a 2002 startup founded by two engineers who wanted to end the wasteful ritual of drivers climbing stairs to check vending machines that were already full.
