Umpqua Holdings Corp

A bank holding company based in Portland, Oregon, Umpqua Holdings ran Umpqua Bank, which offered checking and savings accounts, loans, and wealth management across the Pacific Northwest. It began in 1953 as the South Umpqua State Bank in Canyonville, Oregon, named after the nearby South Umpqua River. The bank became famous for calling its branches "stores" and greeting customers with free house-blend coffee, treating each location like a neighborhood living room. In 2023 it merged with Columbia Banking System, which kept the Umpqua Bank name for its branches.
