United States Natural Gas Fund, LP
An exchange-traded fund that tracks the daily price of natural gas, letting everyday investors buy a slice of the fuel's price moves without ever touching a pipeline or storage tank. Instead of holding physical gas, it buys short-term natural gas futures contracts traded on the New York Mercantile Exchange, benchmarked to the Henry Hub in Louisiana. Launched in 2007 and managed by United States Commodity Funds, it trades under the ticker UNG — a name that simply describes what it does. Because it's structured as a commodity pool, investors get a Schedule K-1 tax form rather than the usual 1099.
