United Stationers Inc

A wholesale distributor of office and workplace supplies, United Stationers once shipped pens, paper, furniture, and cleaning goods to stores and businesses across the country before rebranding as Essendant in 2015. It began in 1921 when three partners bought Chicago's Utility Supply Co., a small office-supply shop, and adopted the "United Stationers" name in 1960 as it grew into one of the nation's largest office-supply wholesalers. Fun fact: the new name "Essendant" blends "essentials" and "ascending," chosen to reflect its shift beyond plain office staples into janitorial and industrial products.
