Valassis Communications Inc

A Michigan company that practically invented the Sunday newspaper coupon booklet, Valassis Communications prints the colorful freestanding insert pages full of grocery and household-brand discounts that families clip and carry to stores. Founder George Valassis started it in 1970 from his suburban Detroit home; when his first printing press sat idle, he went out and sold coupon ads to keep it busy. Its well-known RedPlum insert became a household name before the brand later evolved into Save.com.
