A drugmaker that develops and sells prescription medicines, eye-care products, and over-the-counter remedies under brands like Bausch + Lomb, reaching dozens of countries. It began in 1959 when Serbian immigrant Milan Panić founded ICN Pharmaceuticals in his Los Angeles garage, renaming it Valeant in 2003—a nod to the Latin "valēre," meaning "to be strong." One quirk: the "Nuclear" in ICN's name reflected early radiochemical work, and its logo resembled the nuclear-hazard symbol.
