Vanguard Information Technology ETF
An exchange-traded fund that bundles together the stocks of US information technology companies — from software and chip makers to electronics and computer firms — letting everyday investors buy a slice of the whole sector in one purchase, under the ticker VGT. It was launched in 2004 by Vanguard, the firm that mutual-fund pioneer John Bogle founded in 1975. Bogle named the company after the HMS Vanguard, the warship Admiral Nelson commanded, and the fund tracks a benchmark index of tech stocks rather than picking winners itself.
