Veren Inc.

A Calgary-based oil and gas producer, Veren drills for light oil, natural gas, and natural-gas liquids across Alberta's Montney and Kaybob Duvernay plays. It began life in 2001 as Crescent Point Energy, named after the road to a summer cabin at Lake Shebandowan, Ontario, owned by founder Scott Saxberg's grandfather; the company rebranded to Veren in 2024 by blending the Latin word for truth, "veritas," with "energy." In 2025 it combined with Whitecap Resources.
