Viropharma Incorporated

A biopharmaceutical company that developed and marketed treatments for viral diseases and other serious conditions, ViroPharma was best known for Vancocin, a drug for Clostridium difficile-associated diarrhea, and Cinryze, a therapy for hereditary angioedema. Founded in 1994 and based in Exton, Pennsylvania, the company's name blends "viro" (for viruses) with "pharma." It was acquired by the Irish drugmaker Shire in 2014.
