Whiting Petroleum Corporation

An independent oil and gas exploration and production company based in Denver, Colorado, Whiting Petroleum drills for crude oil and natural gas, with much of its work in the Bakken shale of North Dakota and the Permian Basin of Texas. It was founded in 1980 by petroleum engineer Ken Whiting and is simply named after him. Over the decades the company grew into one of the largest oil producers in the Bakken, once drilling some of the region's most productive wells.
