Whole Foods Market Inc.
A chain of grocery stores devoted to natural and organic foods, Whole Foods fills its aisles with fresh produce, sustainably sourced meat and seafood, and everyday pantry staples. It began in 1980 in Austin, Texas, when two local natural-food shops—including John Mackey's SaferWay—merged into one store. Shoppers jokingly call it "Whole Paycheck" for its reputation for higher prices, and today it is part of Amazon.
