A media and technology company best known as the parent of The Knot, the wedding-planning site where couples find vendors, build registries, and get advice. It was founded in 1996 by David Liu and Carley Roney after the NYU film-school pair found planning their own wedding frustrating; the service launched on AOL before its own site, TheKnot.com, went live the next year. In 2011 it rebranded as XO Group to also cover The Bump (pregnancy and parenting) and The Nest (newlywed home life) — with the name a playful nod to hugs and kisses.
