Naspers Ltd
A South African consumer internet and media group that grew from a newspaper publisher into one of the world's largest technology investors. Founded in 1915 in Cape Town as De Nasionale Pers ("The National Press"), it shortened its name to Naspers in 1998. Today it runs digital businesses like the OLX marketplace, iFood food delivery, and PayU payments — and in 2001 it bought a stake in Tencent, then a little-known Chinese startup, in what is often called one of the most successful investments ever.
