Zurich Insurance Group AG

A global multi-line insurer that sells property, casualty, life, and savings products to individuals, small businesses, and large corporations. It was founded in 1872 in Zurich, Switzerland, as a marine reinsurer called "Versicherungs-Verein" (Insurance Association), and its name simply comes from the city where it still makes its home. A fun twist: it began by insuring ships and cargo, then branched into accident insurance in 1875, renaming itself Zurich Transport & Accident Insurance.
