Bayerische Motoren Werke AG

A German maker of luxury cars, motorcycles, and the MINI and Rolls-Royce brands, whose name translates to "Bavarian Motor Works." It began in 1916 building aircraft engines, then pivoted after World War I to brakes, farm equipment, and its first motorcycle, the R 32, before launching cars in 1928. Fun fact: its blue-and-white roundel is actually borrowed from the Bavarian flag — the spinning-propeller story only started with a 1929 advertisement.
