A global logistics and mail group operating the familiar yellow DHL courier brand alongside Germany's Deutsche Post postal service. It moves documents and goods door to door, handles air, ocean and road freight, and runs contract warehousing for businesses. DHL was born in San Francisco in 1969 when three founders began flying shipping documents ahead of cargo ships so customs could clear them sooner; the name strings together their surnames, Dalsey, Hillblom and Lynn. Today the group is based in Bonn, Germany.
