Heidelberg Materials AG
A maker of cement, aggregates, ready-mixed concrete, and asphalt used in roads, bridges, and buildings around the world, Heidelberg Materials is one of the largest building-materials companies on the planet. It began in 1873 when a trained beer brewer named Johann Philipp Schifferdecker bought a mill in Heidelberg, Germany, and turned it into a Portland cement plant. The company, long known as HeidelbergCement, renamed itself Heidelberg Materials in 2023 to reflect its wider product range and greener ambitions.
