Babcock & Wilcox Enterprises, Inc.

A maker of steam-generation boilers and emissions-control equipment, Babcock & Wilcox Enterprises serves power plants and industrial and municipal customers around the world, along with spare parts and maintenance services. Founded in 1867 by Rhode Island childhood friends Stephen Wilcox and George Babcock, the company created a safer water-tube boiler that later powered Thomas Edison's Pearl Street Station and New York City's first subway. In 2015 it spun off from its parent firm to become an independent company.
