Arkema SA

A French maker of specialty materials, Arkema produces high-performance polymers and coatings used in everything from car parts and electronics to adhesives and gas odorants. Its brands include Bostik adhesives, Kynar fluoropolymers, and Rilsan bio-based polyamides made from castor beans. The company was created in 2004 when French oil giant Total reorganized its chemicals branch, and it was spun off and listed on the Paris stock exchange in 2006. Its name was chosen as a fresh, modern identifier for the new group—though "Arkema" also happens to be a rare Dutch surname.
