Playstudios, Inc.
A "blank check" company, or SPAC, that raised money from public investors to buy or merge with another business. Founded in 2020 and led by the former chairman of MGM Resorts, it targeted the experiential entertainment and gaming world. In 2021 it merged with PLAYSTUDIOS, a maker of free-to-play mobile and social games, and the combined company now trades on the Nasdaq as PLAYSTUDIOS. Its name comes from the Latin word for a sharp edge or battle line.
