Aspen Insurance Holdings Ltd

A global specialty insurer and reinsurer based in Bermuda, Aspen covers complex, custom risks for corporations and other insurers, including property catastrophe reinsurance and professional and financial lines. It was founded in 2002 by Chris O'Kane and Julian Cusack, launched in the wake of the capacity crunch that followed the September 11 attacks, and grew quickly from Hamilton into the US and UK. The name was chosen to evoke strength and stability, and the company was later acquired by Japan's Sompo Holdings.
