A special purpose acquisition company, or "blank check" company, formed to raise money through an IPO and use it to merge with or take public an existing private business. Axios Sustainable Growth Acquisition Corp focused its hunt on agribusiness, plant-based proteins, food processing, and related ag-tech companies in Central and Eastern Europe. Founded in late 2021 and headquartered in Alpharetta, Georgia, it took its name from the ancient Greek word "axios," meaning "worthy" — the same word used in Eastern Orthodox ceremonies to acclaim a new clergy member as worthy.
