Cardtronics Plc
A company that owned and ran a vast network of cash machines placed inside convenience stores, grocery stores, and pharmacies, so shoppers could get cash without hunting for a bank branch. Founded in Texas in 1993 as Cardpro, it took the name "Cardtronics" to reflect its focus on card and electronic transactions, and grew the Allpoint Network into one of the largest surcharge-free ATM networks in the world. Fun fact: at its peak, about one in every dozen ATMs in the United States belonged to its network.
