Decarbonization Plus Acquisition Corporation IV

A "blank check" company, or SPAC, created in 2020 to find a business to take public — specifically one advancing global decarbonization. Sponsored by an affiliate of private-equity firm Riverstone Holdings, it raised money through an IPO in 2021 and then, in February 2023, merged with Hammerhead Resources, a Calgary oil-and-gas producer working the Montney formation in Alberta, becoming Hammerhead Energy Inc. The twist: a company named for cutting carbon emissions ended up taking an oil-and-gas driller public, and the combined firm was itself bought by Crescent Point Energy later that year.
