A maker of cancer treatments that harness electricity rather than drugs, Novocure produces the Optune device, a wearable system that delivers low-intensity electric fields (called Tumor Treating Fields) to slow tumor growth in adults with glioblastoma, an aggressive brain cancer. It was founded in 2000 by Yoram Palti, a biophysicist who first tested his theory in a lab he set up in the basement of his home in Israel.
