Ocean Rig Udw Inc.

A contractor that ran ultra-deepwater drillships and harsh-environment semi-submersible rigs, drilling for oil and gas for major energy companies in the world's deepest waters. Born in Norway in 1996 as Ocean Rig ASA, it passed through shipping tycoon George Economou's DryShips before becoming standalone Ocean Rig UDW Inc., later folded into Transocean. Its harsh-environment rigs were named for Norse explorers, like Eirik Raude and Leiv Eiriksson.
