Ortho Clinical Diagnostics Holdings Plc
A maker of blood-testing equipment and diagnostics for hospitals, clinical labs, and blood centers, Ortho Clinical Diagnostics is best known for its VITROS line of analyzers that run chemistry and immunoassay tests. It began in 1939 as Ortho Products, a Johnson & Johnson division in Linden, New Jersey, and took its current shape in 1997 when J&J merged its Ortho Diagnostic Systems with the clinical diagnostics business it had bought from Eastman Kodak. The name "Ortho" comes from the Greek for "straight" or "correct," and the company later became independent before merging with Quidel in 2022 to form QuidelOrtho.
